CORREA STATEMENT ON GOP’S UNPRODUCTIVE WEEK IN CONGRESS
WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) released the following statement:
“Instead of keeping the government open, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle accomplished nothing this legislative week and instead chose to focus their efforts on adding to the national inflammatory anti-immigrant rhetoric.
We were forced to take votes on bills that were already law. At the same time, Republicans themselves couldn’t even muster enough votes to pass a CR and keep our government open, leaving the fate of our seniors and veterans who rely on government services hanging in the balance. It’s simple: while my colleagues and I are trying to unite this country, they are trying to tear it down.
I refuse to take part in these political games while those working on Main Street are yearning for real solutions to keep their businesses open, roofs over the heads of their families, and our communities thriving. We’re working on solving the refugee challenge, but talking about ‘terrorist’ immigrants does nothing but make this crisis worse.”
